3 Powerful Forces That Influence Your Mind: Time, Company & Food
The 3 Hidden Influences That Shape Our Mind—and How to Transcend Them
Have you ever noticed how your mood shifts for no apparent reason? One moment you're energetic, and the next, you're down or anxious. I used to think it was just "one of those days" until I began observing the deeper rhythms of life.
1. Time – The Silent Sculptor of the Mind
Time doesn't just move our clocks forward; it subtly molds our thoughts, feelings, and even our energy levels. Our ancestors understood this deeply. They studied how the moon, stars, and seasons affect the human mind. That’s where terms like Tara-bal and Chandra-bal come from tracking the moon’s influence through constellations and its effect on our emotional landscape.
Every two and a half days, the moon shifts to a new constellation, and with it, so does our mental state. This explained a lot for me. When I realized my feelings weren’t always mine, but a reflection of time's energy, it gave me perspective and peace.
But does that mean we are slaves to time and mood? Not at all.
There’s a power higher than the mind the intellect. And when our intellect is strong, it helps us navigate emotional tides with clarity. However, if the intellect weakens, emotions take the wheel.
Then what?
There’s yet another layer the Self.
And that’s where the ancient wisdom of Shiva Tattva comes in. Shiva, as Mahakaal (the Lord of Time), symbolizes that timeless Self within us. When we connect to that higher Self, the noise of time, mood, and emotion begins to quiet down. I’ve felt it myself meditation, reflection, or just moments of deep awareness can shift your inner state more powerfully than anything external.
2. Company – The Energy You Absorb
The second major influence? The people around us.
Have you ever walked into a room and felt drained or uplifted just by someone’s presence? That’s not coincidence; it’s energetic resonance.
Words, thoughts, and even silent emotions of others affect us. Good company fills you with hope, positivity, and courage. Toxic company, on the other hand, can bring out jealousy, anger, and fear.
Choosing your circle is not selfish; it’s spiritual self-care.
3. Food – The Physical Code of Emotion
Finally, food. While it’s often talked about as the foundation of health, it’s actually a secondary influence on the mind. If your time awareness and company are in harmony, even average food won’t disturb your peace too much.
But when all three time, company, and food are aligned, the mind becomes light, focused, and joyful.
Knowing Time, Becoming Timeless
Those who study time deeply are called Devagya knowers of time. But even above that is a Brahma-Gyani someone anchored in Self-realization.
Such a person is not swayed by time or moods. Even if the world around them shakes, their center holds. That’s the power of Brahma-Gyan: the wisdom of who you truly are beyond all changes.

My Reflection
When I started observing these three pillars time, company, and food I began to feel more in control, more aware, more… me. I realized that my mind isn’t my master I am.
And when things seem chaotic, it's not life falling apart; it’s life asking me to go deeper.
If this resonates with you, pause today. Observe. Reflect. And remember
There is something within you that time cannot touch.
